Scene 15: Jake Cop & Sanchez Stand Off

Scene 15: ‘Jake Cop & Sanchez Stand Off’ production info
Location: Tradegar Park; Newport

Jake chases Sanchez after pulling out one of his many hidden guns Our crane shot... OK, so Nick climbed a tree, it looks good though Sanchez dispensing some particularly bad dialogue

For what seemed like a simple, 4 minute scene, this monstrous pain in the arse took weeks to shoot for one reason or another. Mostly because of the constant interruptions of having to go into college for useless classes. They would very cleverly schedule a class in the morning for an hour, and a class in the evening for an hour, ruining the whole day for filming. Pegging it back and for between classes while trying to whack out scenes for an action comedy proved most difficult, but not impossible. Originally both this scene and the next one by the river bank were supposed to take a day, hah! As it turned out, between them they actually took over a year. Well, sometimes it’s slow.

Sanchez about to dispense Jake Tip for villains, when you have the hero at your mercy, kill him, don't talk shite You see? I tried to warn you Sanchez, but would you listen? oh no

This is one of the most beautifully shot scenes in the film, it’s just a shame that the dialogue’s so bad. Skillful crossing over of the line, great two-shots, wonderful use of movement within the frame, and appalling acting from both parties. Oh well, you can’t have everything.
